Cleveland closed out its trip to Colorado in dominant fashion Sunday, rolling to a 7-2 win over the Rockies to complete a three-game sweep at Coors Field. The victory extended the Guardians’ winning streak to four games and marked another step forward for an offense that has looked like a completely different unit over the last several days.
Steven Kwan continued his remarkable stretch at the plate, opening the game with a single and eventually finishing 2 for 5, extending his streak of reaching base to 45 of his last 50 games. Chase DeLauter delivered the biggest individual performance of the day, going 3 for 4 with two triples, becoming just the fourth Cleveland rookie in franchise history to record multiple doubles or triples in a single game. It marked his third triple of the season, and the first time any Guardians player had recorded two triples in a game since Greg Allen accomplished the feat back in 2019.
Cleveland’s official account summed up the mood after the sweep was official.
“Rocky Mountain SWEEP,” the Guardians posted.

The Guardians jumped on Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano early, a pitcher who had entered the game red hot, winning eight of his last 11 decisions. Cleveland got to him for five runs on nine hits across three innings, sending seven batters to the plate in each of the first two frames. Jo Adell drove in two runs with a single and a double, giving him 17 RBIs in just 16 games since arriving from the Angels, while Nathaniel Lowe added a two out, full count single off a lefty reliever despite entering the game with just two hits in 30 at bats against left-handed pitching this season.
Foster Griffin worked five innings for the win, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four, and the bullpen of Craig Yoho, Tim Herrin, Matt Festa and Logan Allen combined to close out the final four innings without allowing a run. The performance capped off a series where Cleveland hit .382 with runners in scoring position, a stunning turnaround for an offense that had struggled in that exact category for most of the season.
The sweep pushed Cleveland to 65- 66 on the season, continuing a stretch that has completely changed the tone around this team after a difficult stretch following the All-Star break. With the pitching staff remaining steady and the offense finally clicking on all cylinders, the Guardians have positioned themselves right back in the middle of the playoff picture heading into the final month.
Cleveland now heads to Anaheim for a three-game series against the Angels, opening Monday night with Parker Messick on the mound looking to keep this stretch of momentum alive as the calendar turns toward September.
