The Cleveland Guardians are off to a decent start to the 2026 season even if they haven’t been able to generate a ton of consistency just yet, but one of the most exciting parts of the season has been the performance of some of the young guys. Former prospects such as Chase DeLauter, Gavin Williams, Parker Messick, Joey Cantillo, and others have gotten off to great starts and are a testament to how strong of a developmental program this organization has built.
As exciting as the young talent has been, over the next year or two, a lot more is on the way. Cleveland’s top-ranked prospects feature a number of incredibly talented hitters who are going to find their way to the big leagues in due time.
Near the top of the list is slugging outfielder Jace LaViolette, who is off to a strong start in High-A Lake County. The Captains shared a clip of his most recent homer, which was his third of the young season.
“We have lift off! Jace LaViolette clobbers his third home run of the year, and the Captains take the lead!” Lake County Captains wrote.

LaViolette was the 27th pick in the 2025 draft out of Texas A&M and Cleveland was ecstatic to get him since he was rumored to be in the mix to go first overall prior to last season.
He has a ways to go before he reaches the majors, but the talent is evident and he is in good hands with this organization. DeLauter has clearly developed in a healthy and linear way, and fans surely would love to see LaViolette take a similar path.
Cleveland’s lineup already skews heavily left-handed, particularly in the outfield, but eventually the Guardians are going to have to figure out how to accommodate even more thump from the left side. LaViolette isn’t the only top prospect who is going to be beating down the door, as former No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana is pushing for a call-up even sooner as well with his early performance this season.
