The wait is finally over, and Opening Day is upon us. The Cleveland Guardians and their fans are eager to begin their quest for a third straight AL Central crown and perhaps to end the league’s longest World Series drought, and if Spring Training is any indication, the Guardians will have a solid chance at making a run in 2026.
It all begins and ends with the talent on the field, and we now know who has won the few camp battles that were underway as the team has announced its official Opening Day roster. Mason Horodyski of WEWS shared the Guardians’ official 26-man roster on X.
Guys who were battling for a roster spot include CJ Kayfus, Rhys Hoskins, Angel Martinez, and Colin Holderman, and they have all officially made it.
“OFFICIAL: The Guardians 2026 Opening Day Roster is here,” Horodyski posted on X.

George Valera and Hunter Gaddis are both still injured but are progressing well. While they’re not on the Opening Day roster, they will take two spots soon when they get back, so it will be interesting to see which players get sent down to accommodate them.
One name that jumps out is Chase DeLauter, who has had a tremendous camp and has carved out a pivotal role for himself on the team. He will likely bat high in the lineup and will start in right field, as the fans and front office have all the faith in the world that he can take a step forward and help this offense turn things around.
There is a lot of upside on this roster, from Parker Messick to Kyle Manzardo to Angel Martinez, who looked like a completely different hitter this spring. We still don’t know what the lineup will look like, but it should be much improved thanks to all this young talent. Expectations are high, and excitement is through the roof.
It’s one of the most beautiful times of the year, and we all can’t wait to see what the Guardians do in 2026.
