The Cleveland Guardians aren’t known for their offensive prowess. Over the past couple of years, they haven’t been the most proficient team at the plate.
In fact, watching this team make the playoffs last season was a major surprise, all things considered. Not only did they have one of the cheapest payrolls in all of baseball, but they also had one of the worst offenses.
Now, it seems like that’s about to change. They have a plethora of young talent in their ranks, and they should do much better at the plate sooner rather than later. At least, that’s how MLB analyst Eric Cross feels.
He recently took to social media to point out the best hitting prospect trios in the game, and the Guardians made the cut.
“Travis Bazzana, Chase DeLauter, CJ Kayfus,” Cross wrote on his list on X.
At No. 10, the Guardians’ trio of Travis Bazzana, Chase DeLauter, and C.J. Kayfus got the nod. That’s not even counting potential stars like Angel Genao and George Valera.
Only the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Los Angeles Dodgers are ahead of them. Notably, the Detroit Tigers got the No. 1 spot with Kevin McGonigle, Max Clark, and Josue Briceño.
The Guardians already saw what Kayfus can do when given a longer leash, and while he’s a work in progress, the talent is there. Chase DeLauter, on the other hand, got the nod to make his debut in the playoffs.
As for Travis Bazzana, he’s a former No. 1 pick for a reason.
