The Cleveland Guardians have some big plans for Juan Brito. As such, they need to make sure he’s fully healthy and ready to roll for next season.
With that in mind, the fans might be thrilled to know that he’s trending in the right direction. In fact, he’s finally been cleared to play, and he’ll suit up to play some winter ball, according to a report by Guardians Prospective:
“Cleveland Guardians 24yr old switch-hitting (2B) prospect Juan Brito received medical clearance (Hamstring Surgery) from the organization and will begin practicing with his LIDOM club Toros del Este next week,” via Guardians Prospective.

The young middle-infield prospect underwent surgery to address a hamstring injury in September. He had been doing some work and some hitting, and it looked like he had bulked up a little this offseason. He’s currently the organization’s No. 15 prospect.
Brito’s injury was never believed to be serious. He was going through a recovery phase to return to the field after initially getting hurt in July. Then, with some symptoms and discomfort, the team’s doctors recommended that he go under the knife.
The talented youngster made 24 appearances for the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, logging a batting average of .256 with 15 RBIs and three home runs. He should be in the mix to make the team’s Opening Day roster in spring training if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks in his recovery.
However, that will be way easier said than done, as he will also have his fair share of competition for playing time. The Guardians have a big logjam in the middle of the infield, with Brito competing with Brayan Rocchio, Gabriel Arias, Angel Martinez, Daniel Schneemann, and former No. 1 pick Travis Bazzana for a spot.
