The Cleveland Guardians got some solid performances from Matt Festa this season. Right now, however, he’s likely not thinking about baseball at all.
As shown by Guardians Prospective, the pitcher got married recently.
Festa should enjoy some well-deserved time off. It won’t be long before he has to get back to work.

The Guardians acquired him from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations. He took the mound for 54.2 innings, logging a 4.12 ERA with a 9.22/2.47 K/BB ratio.
He appeared once in the playoffs, but while the sample size was limited, he proved that he could hold his own. He logged one strikeout and didn’t give up a run in two-thirds of an inning against the Detroit Tigers.
Festa should continue to have a big role going forward. While not the high-leverage reliever that would pitch with the game on the line, he’s a solid setup man or someone who could take the mound as an opener.
He wasn’t particularly bad against left-handed hitters, but he was quite efficient against righties. He might be in for a role similar to what Cade Smith had before taking over as the closer from Emmanuel Clase.
The Guardians will have to find some more players for their pitching staff. They seem to be set in the starting rotation, but their bullpen could use some reinforcements, even with Festa on hand.
