The Cleveland Guardians aren’t playing right now, but that doesn’t mean their players are on vacation.
If anything, a lot of them are involved in winter ball.
That’s the case with Gabriel Arias.
The 25-year-old middle infielder is playing in his native Venezuela for Tiburones de La Guaira, and he’s having an impressive season.
As shown by Guardians Prospective, Arias recently went 3-for-4 with a run scored and one double, and he’s now up to a. .289 batting average with an .893 OPS in 11 games.

The Guardians need to figure out what to do with Arias.
He showed signs of promise at the plate last season, and while he wasn’t as consistent as they would’ve liked, he had some timely hits and made some big plays in the clutch.
That being said, the Guardians have several options for their middle infield.
Besides Arias, they have Angel Martinez, Daniel Schneemann, Juan Brito and Brayan Rocchio.
They are also likely to promote top prospect Travis Bazzana at some point next season, barring an injury or a shocking turn of events.
That’s why some analysts believe that Arias could be one of the odd men out.
He’s an outstanding defensive player, and he’s young, so multiple teams would likely be interested in him.
Yet, if he continues to play this way, it will be tough for Cleveland to let him go.
