The Cleveland Guardians continue to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of young talent.
This time, it led them back to Venezuela.
As shown by Guardians Prospective, Cleveland is the favorite to sign promising pitching prospect Edwin Fernandez.
The right-hander is training at the Alex Salazar Academy and is eligible to commit on the 2026 international signing day.

The Guardians will be quite busy that day, as they’re linked to dozens of star prospects.
That’s among the best ways small-market teams can stay competitive and find talent to keep up with MLB powerhouses.
The Guardians need to build their roster, because they can’t buy one.
Granted, that’s not to say that every young player they sign will end up being a star.
On the contrary, most of them will never play a game in the majors.
There are countless factors that can make or break a career.
From being in the right organization to staying healthy and being mature and staying focused, it takes years for players to make it.
Hopefully, that will be the case not only with Fernandez but also with most of the prospects the Guardians sign early next year.
One day, this could be the beginning of what becomes a legendary career.
