The Cleveland Guardians were rather quiet in the offseason and last season.
Now, Jose Ramirez is looking to put some pressure on them.
The superstar third baseman called out the front office for not holding up their end of the deal.
When asked about his contract extension, he let it be known that things would be different now:
“Things are going to change for the 2028 extension talks… The General Manager didn’t do what we talked about back then. They were supposed to take advantage of my discount and build a team to win,” Ramirez said.
Jose Ramirez just dropped a bomb on the Guardians front office:

Props to Ramirez for taking a stance.
While he’s never been the type of player who’s going to bash his teammates, publicly demand reinforcements, or threaten to leave if they don’t do something, it’s only right that he holds them accountable.
Ramirez is one of the best players in the world, and he only agreed to take a pay cut because of his love for the city and the organization.
As such, the front office owed it to him to do right by him and surround him with the type of supporting cast he needs to lead this team to the mountaintop.
Instead, they reportedly even considered trading Steven Kwan.
Now, with Ramirez pushing their hand, they have no choice but to pick up contract extension talks with their All-Star outfielder.
And, more importantly, they will also have to spend some bucks in free agency.
Otherwise, Ramirez will have little to no incentives to take another pay cut in his next contract.
You never want to get on your star player’s bad side, and this team isn’t that far off from World Series contention, so the front office will have to get to work.
