The Cleveland Guardians’ season was a lot to deal with.
From a strong start to going through one of the worst seasons in franchise history, they had to deal with a whole lot.
That’s why team analyst Paul Hoynes had just one word to describe what we all saw this year:
“Extreme,” Hoynes wrote.
That should sum it up right there.
The Guardians were the best team in all of baseball down the stretch this season.
They trailed by as many as 11 games at one point in September, and they became the first team in MLB history to come back all the way from a 15.5-game deficit to win its division.
They took down the Detroit Tigers multiple times in the final couple of weeks, and capped it off with a three-run, division-clinching home run in extra innings in the very last game of the season to run away with the divisional pennant.
Then, they couldn’t take two out of three at home against the very same team they had dominated over and over.
That was just the story of the season.
Even so, as disappointing as the final outcome was, there were still plenty of positive things to say about Stephen Vogt’s team.
The future seems bright with all the young stars, and Jose Ramirez is still one of the best players in baseball.
Now, it’ll be all about ensuring the front office makes the necessary moves and adds the necessary firepower to reach the next level.
