The Cleveland Guardians failed to get the job done when it mattered most.
Right after beating the Detroit Tigers to storm right back and win the AL Central Division, they fell to that same team in the wild-card series.
That’s just the way baseball goes at times, and it’s all about getting the job done in those two games that could make or break your campaign.
Nevertheless, it’s not like it was all bad.
If anything, this season proved that this team could lean on several veterans for the long run.
Notably, that includes Jakob Junis.
As pointed out by SleeperGuardians on X, the star reliever was quite solid this season, logging a 2.97 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and a 4-1 record in 66.2 innings of work.

Considering that, they wondered whether he was worth keeping around for a little longer, and judging by those numbers, there’s no reason to feel they shouldn’t.
The Guardians need to make some moves in the offseason, namely adding more firepower to the offense, but the bullpen should remain almost untouched.
They’re not to blame for how things went down.
If anything, they played a huge role in making sure this team got through the finish line.
Junis, along with Hunter Gaddis, was perhaps one of the most important pieces of Stephen Vogt’s bullpen.
And while the season clearly didn’t end in the way the fans hoped, this team is much closer to being a perennial contender than to a non-playoff team.
