The Cleveland Guardians couldn’t get the job done in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card series.
However, it’s too early to be concerned.
They have overcome adversity over and over this season, and this shouldn’t be the exception to that rule.
Talking to Anthony Lima on 92.3 The Fan, analyst Andy Baskin predicted that the Guardians will extend their season by winning Game 2.
“This team has done this consistently over the last month. I like them today. I like the fact we’re not going against [Tarik] Skubal again. I think they’re going to win today. I think they’re going to force a Game 3. I thought that when I walked through the door. I thought that when I watched the game yesterday,” Baskin said.

Skubal is one of the best pitchers in the game, so it’s not a surprise the Guardians couldn’t get anything going against him in Game 1.
Now, they should have the edge on the mound when Tanner Bibee squares off with Casey Mize in Game 2.
Cleveland also has a better bullpen and an offense that was riding much better momentum.
Manager Stephen Vogt shut down any concerns after Game 1, pointing out that his team has had its back against the wall for three months now, so they players are used to being in this type of situation.
Of course, that’s not to say that they should overlook anything, and the fact of the matter is that their margin for error is officially zero, as a loss will end their magical season.
They are the most resilient team in baseball, and they’ve proven to be mentally strong enough to deal with every obstacle they’ve come across.
