The Cleveland Guardians have a tradition of finding and developing middle infielders.
The farm system is the gift that keeps on giving, and judging by its long track record of success, it’s not surprising to see that shortstops usually want to sign with them over other teams.
With that in mind, Guardians Prospective reports that Cleveland is the favorite to land switch-hitting shortstop prospect Sebastian Torres.
The Venezuelan isn’t eligible for a contract until the Jan. 15, 2028, international signing day.

The Guardians know how to develop young players and bring out the best in them.
They’ve proven that over and over throughout the years, including this season.
They most recently called up outfield prospect Chase DeLauter to join their playoff roster, even though he has never played an MLB game.
They also had first-year stars C.J. Kayfus and George Valera play big roles down the stretch this season.
While the Guardians don’t usually rush their players and sometimes err on the side of caution with how patient they are with them, they’ve never hesitated to give them a chance and play them over veterans when they look ready.
Torres still has a long way to go, and he may never play for the organization, but this is the first step in what might be a great career.
