The Cleveland Guardians looked doomed at one point in the season.
They had lost 10 straight games, and they won just nine games in the entire month of June.
Fast forward to today, and they’re officially a playoff team.
More impressively, they control their own destiny in the playoff race, as they can secure the AL Central Division title with a win on Sunday in the regular-season finale over the Texas Rangers.
With that in mind, MLB analyst Dennis Manoloff tipped his hat to Stephen Vogt.
Following their epic win on Saturday night, Manoloff took to social media to praise the Guardians’ manager for the remarkable job he’s done in charge of the team:
“No reason Vogt The Goat shouldn’t be back-to-back AL manager of the year. What he did with this roster, how he navigated the in-season craters and other adversity, was remarkable. This team easily could have lost 90+. One of the best managerial jobs I’ve ever seen,” Manoloff posted on X.

What this team has done is unprecedented.
If they win on Sunday, it would be the first time in MLB history that a team wins its division after trailing by as many as 15.5 games at one point in the campaign.
This is just the fourth time a team has made the playoffs after losing at least 10 games in a row, and we’re talking about a team that was eleven games behind the Detroit Tigers entering September.
Of course, this also speaks volumes about the way the Tigers fell back to Earth after an otherworldly start to the season.
But as much as Guardians fans should be thankful to A.J. Hinch for this huge helping hand, Vogt and his staff also deserve all the credit in the world for what they’ve done.
