The Cleveland Guardians needed as much help as they could get to keep their offensive surge going.
Fortunately, they found some from an unlikely source, as Bo Naylor has become an unsung hero.
While the pitching staff has been absolutely elite lately, the young catcher has also played a huge role in turning around the season.
Analyst Gabb Goudy recently gushed about Naylor’s improvement at the plate.
“It’s been amazing to see what Bo Naylor can do at the end of the season, especially in a league where catchers have been struggling on almost every team. It’s great to see a little bit of success going towards the end of the season,” Goudy said.
Bo Naylor is back in the lineup today! #GuardsBall@gabbgoudy talks about the late season resurgence of Naylor (hitting .314 with 3 HR & 14 RBI in his last 15 games).

Naylor completely changed his approach at the plate, and it’s showing.
He’s been so good lately that manager Stephen Vogt recently moved him up to the fifth spot in the batting order.
That’s not a surprise, considering that Naylor has a .913 OPS, .300 batting average, 14 RBIs and three home runs in his past 50 at-bats.
He’s struck out just 10 times during that span, which is a massive improvement on his biggest offensive weakness.
He was the hero in a win against the Chicago White Sox, driving in all three runs as they chase an AL playoff berth.
Like any young player, Naylor is a work in progress, and there will be some speed bumps along the way.
But if he keeps this up, the Guardians will be even more dangerous, and there’s no reason to believe he can’t continue to be this type of productive hitter.
