The Cleveland Guardians continue to close in on an unlikely playoff berth.
Notably, plenty of that has to do with Jose Ramirez.
The All-Star third baseman has been the best player on the team all year long, and the fact that the Guardians are surprisingly still in contention should help his case for AL MVP.
Analyst Tom Hamilton recently shared his thoughts on Ramirez and his seeming lack of MVP consideration.
“No one’s talking about Jose for [the] Most Valuable Player award, and I know how deserving Cal Raleigh is,” Hamilton said.

Granted, it’s hard to envision someone other than Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh or New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge winning the award, but Ramirez should be near the top in the voting.
During his career, Ramirez has finished in the top five multiple times, and to go without winning even once doesn’t feel right.
Ramirez has never been an outspoken player, and he doesn’t play for a big-market team, which is perhaps why he hasn’t received the recognition he deserves.
Yet, he’s never seemed to care about that, either.
He knows he’s just there to help the Guardians win games, and getting respect and recognition from his peers might be more than enough.
The Guardians are closing out the regular season on a high note, and they’re playing their best baseball of the season.
Maybe rallying to win the AL Central will be just what Ramirez needs to finally win AL MVP.
