The Cleveland Guardians have the best third baseman in the game, and the gap is getting wider by the day.
Jose Ramirez continues to turn heads every single time he’s out there, and even when he’s not getting it done at the plate, which rarely happens, he always finds a way to impact the game.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to read that he might be on pace to set another career best.
As pointed out by MLB insider Tim Stebbins on X, he currently has 33 stolen bases in 113 games this season.
He’s just eight shy of his career best of 41 stolen bases in 158 games, which he accomplished last season.
And he’s one shy of tying his previous career best, which was 34 stolen bases in 157 games back in 2018.
33 stolen bases for José Ramírez in 113 games this season. His previous bests:

Ramirez has all the attributes one would want in a baseball player.
He can hit for both contact and power.
He’s a perennial threat around the bases, and he plays outstanding defense.
The Guardians are currently riding a five-game winning streak, and that’s despite Ramirez not being his usual dominant self at the plate.
He’s gone just 2-for-20 during the five-game winning streak, yet he’s out there drawing walks, stealing bases, and making plays on defense.
It’s just a matter of time before he gets his act together and back to his usual, dominant self at the plate.
He’s an MVP candidate, and even though he’s not likely to win the award, it’s hard to choose someone better than him in the American League this season.
