The Cleveland Guardians are trending in the right direction.
They’ve been one of the hottest teams over their past 12 games, finally waking up and bouncing back after a dreadful June.
Asked about that, star third baseman Jose Ramirez admitted that the season had been frustrating, but he is glad that the team finally turned the corner.
“It’s just the focus, especially with the younger guys, to be able to focus for the game,” Ramirez said. “I’m happy with the results. Sometimes you don’t get the results you want, because it’s a long season. But I’m happy with how they’re playing the game.”
Ramirez has been the lone bright spot on the team day in and day out.
He’s been their most consistent offensive player, and he’s also a defensive star.
He set a franchise record by logging his third season with at least 20 home runs and 30 stolen bases.
He is now tied for the third-most seasons with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases (seven) in MLB history.
The Guardians have a special player on their hands, and though he’s about to be 33 years old, he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
Ramirez is arguably the best third baseman in baseball.
Hopefully, the front office will do right by him and surround him with the type of teammates he needs to win a championship.
In the meantime, he will continue to spearhead this second-half surge to make another run at the playoffs, and the Guardians will go only as far as he can take them.
