Some teams are playing the last series of the season.
Others are patiently waiting for free agency to start in order to make some moves and move their rosters closers to contention.
Others, however, need to secure a field general first.
The Chicago White Sox and the Miami Marlins are two of the teams looking for a manager for the 2025 and, hopefully, beyond.
Late on Tuesday, when the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers were playing Game 4 of the World Series, it was announced that the White Sox were hiring Will Venable as their skipper.

That decision could have direct consequences on the Cleveland Guardians.
How? Well, we will explain.
The Marlins were, according to noted insider Craig Mish, down to two candidates for their managerial position: Venable and Guardians bench coach Craig Albernaz.
Now that the White Sox got Venable (a respected up-and-coming manager candidate who is coming off being Bruce Bochy’s right hand in Texas), Albernaz seems destined to join the Marlins eventually.
With Venable going to Chicago, it seems like Albernaz is destined for Miami https://t.co/HwJLcaFiBb

It’s not hard to connect the dots: once the White Sox make it official with Venable, the Guardians will likely lose their bench coach.
Albernaz is also an up-and-coming managerial prospect, with a whole life tied to the game and a fondness for modern tendencies.
He was the perfect right hand for Guardians manager Stephen Vogt and has earned a chance to pursue a promotion in the form of a managerial position.
Cleveland had a highly successful campaign and he had a lot to do with it.
