MLB clubhouses are an interesting mix of moods, characters, and approaches toward life.
There are serious, introverted people, and those who like to joke around and bring joy to everyone’s lives.
And then, there is Austin Hedges.
Since returning to the Cleveland Guardians organization, the veteran catcher has been more than just an experienced player in the clubhouse.
He talks to young players, he loves to tease people, he comes up with clever jokes and always is up to something, in a good way.
Guys like Hedges lighten up a whole team, and Bally Sports Cleveland posted a video to prove it.

He goes around camp asking people what were their GPAs, asking to introduce themselves to fans, asking if they were animals, which ones would they be, and so on: silly questions that will inevitably put a smile on people’s faces.
Sometimes, that’s just what a group of people with a common goal needs: to loosen up a bit and release some of the pressure.
There is no better way to release the pressure than laughter.
It’s good to know, in addition to his people skills, that Hedges remains a very solid defensive catcher.
As his .568 career OPS suggests, he is not much of a hitter, which is why he will need to keep up his defense competitive and his clubhouse skills on point to remain a part of the Guardians.
Videos like that one, however, show that he is an asset to the group.
