Most Cleveland Guardians pitchers have been working out their bodies or their stuff for several weeks now.
That doesn’t mean that they can’t enjoy an off-season hobby every once in a while, especially if the environment is particularly inviting.
This is the case of young left-hander Joey Cantillo, who is expected to play a big role on the Guardians’ pitching staff this year.
The southpaw was spotted at the beach in his native Hawaii, surfing and enjoying a fine afternoon under the Pacific sun.

Joseph Lopaka Cantillo, or Joey for friends and fans, was born 25 years ago in Honolulu, the capital city of Hawaii.
It makes perfect sense that he enjoys the sun and the waves.
Surfing represents a nice way to stay relaxed and take advantage of the precious few off-season days he has left.
In any case, you can tell that he has been working out on his physique, so his off-season has been much more than just resting.
He knows that 2025 will be a key year for him.
Despite some postseason jitters, Cantillo showed the world what he is capable of during the regular season with a 4.89 ERA in 38.2 frames.
His 4.07 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) and 15/44 BB/K ratio, however, suggest that there could be better days ahead.
Cantillo doesn’t have pinpoint command or impeccable control, but his stuff can be overpowering and he could be an asset for Cleveland if given the chance.
He will presumably compete with Ben Lively, Logan Allen, Ben Lively and Triston McKenzie for a spot in the back end of the Guardians staff, but has the talent to prevail.
