The Cleveland Guardians have finally introduced their City Connect uniforms.
They are right in line with the intention of these kits: showing a different color and overall appearance than the team’s regular uniforms, and highlighting cultural aspects of each squad’s home city.
In this specific case, the uniforms are deeply rooted in what the city of Cleveland represents.
The Guardians were recently renamed in honor of the Guardians of Traffic, the famous sculptures on Cleveland’s Hope Memorial Bridge.
The Hope Memorial Bridge is very close to Progressive Field, where the Guardians play their home games.
Well, the Guardians’ City Connect uniforms are inspired by the Guardians of Traffic: the “CLE” in front of the jerseys and the numbers in the back take on the sculptural art deco style of the Guardian pillars, according to the explanation provided by the league in a recent tweet showing the uniforms.

The design give these elements (the letters and the numbers) a particular look, like they have been etched in stone much like the pylons that support each statue.
The predominant color is obviously blue, but it also includes two colors that the Guardians have used in the past and currently employ, too: red and white.
Overall, the uniforms have a unique look and are very closely related to what the city of Cleveland is and stands for.
The texture and the stripes on the sides of the jerseys and pants are also very particular and give the uniforms a very cool look in the minds of many.
