Triston McKenzie took the mound for the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night hoping to give them a solid performance and get them back in the win column.
All he did was throw eight scoreless innings and strike out 12 batters without walking anybody.
The Guardians won 4-0 and got themselves back to the .500 mark.
But McKenzie may have had himself a little bit of an advantage before he took the mound against the Detroit Tigers.
As it turns out, his mother surprised him and was in the stands to see his dominant performance.
In a postgame interview with Bally Sports Cleveland, McKenzie talked about having his mom in the stands and mentioned that he might have to get his mom to come out to more games.
McKenzie’s mom might just have been his good luck charm.
"I might have to have her come to more games."

Saying Hi To Mom
This is a nice, wholesome story.
She surprised him and showed up out of nowhere and he gave her a treat on Thursday with his eight-inning performance.
Sometimes, a little good luck charm is all you need.
It seems that McKenzie’s mother was that good luck charm last night as he dominated the Tigers and got the Guardians back in the win column.
McKenzie said that he noticed his mom in the stands as he was warming up in the bullpen for his start, looking up to the crowd after a few pitches.
And as it turns out, she got to see her son go out there and throw the game of his life.
The stakes were high, the Guardians needed a win, and McKenzie dominated with his mom present and providing her full support.
Hopefully, as McKenzie alluded to, his mom will come out to more games and keep being his good luck charm.
