As the Cleveland Guardians slipped into an 0-2 hole to the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS, fans were having painful flashbacks to the last two postseason runs over 2024 and 2025 that were both cut short due to a lack of offensive firepower. Cleveland scored just three runs in the first two games of this series but have woken up to pile up nine runs each in Games 3 and 4 to force a decisive Game 5.
It’s surprising that the offense woke up to that degree, and a lot of the credit goes to future Hall of Famer Jose Ramirez. He was the one shouldering a lot of the blame for the slow start and overall, he hasn’t looked like himself since recovering from his broken hand a few months back, but vintage J-Ram showed up just in time to keep this season alive. He posted a double, triple, walk, stolen base, and two RBIs in Game 3 and hit a home run and drove in three runs in Game 4, none of which surprised Travis Bazzana at all.
Mason Horodyski of WEWS shared a clip from Bazzana’s press conference. He was asked about Ramirez’s back-to-back great outings, and he didn’t sound surprised at all.
“We trust in Hosey,” said Bazzana.

Ramirez was a shell of himself throughout most of the second half and just had the worst year of his career. None of it matters now, and he has a chance to rewrite the narrative if he can keep raking and lead this team to the finish line.
Bazzana couldn’t ask for a better role model and a better veteran to lean on than Ramirez. Every day he gets to watch one of the best to ever do it show up and do everything right for this franchise, and it was heartwarming to see him finally come through and show glimpses of the real J-Ram over the past couple of games.
There is no telling how far this team can go if Ramirez is in vintage form. He sounds like he is ready for the challenge on Saturday and expects the fans to be behind him as well.
