Travis Bazzana has been asked about his game plenty of times since arriving in Cleveland. When Carlos Baerga posed the question, the answer was about as honest and straightforward as it gets.
The second baseman from Hornsby, Australia sat down with the Cleveland legend and did not overthink his response when asked what sets him apart on a baseball field.
“That is what put me on a good path in baseball: I just love playing the game and every time I’m out on the field I play with passion,” Bazzana said, per The Daily Guards.

The numbers in 2026 reflect exactly the kind of player that mentality produces. Bazzana is hitting .293 across 92 at bats with three home runs, 11 RBI, seven stolen bases, a .404 on base percentage, and an .838 OPS with an OPS+ of 140.
Wednesday afternoon was the latest example of what passion and preparation look like in game action. Bazzana went 2-4 with a run scored and extended his streak to five consecutive games with an extra base hit, delivering a key double in the fifth inning that helped ignite the three run rally that gave Cleveland the lead for good in a 3-2 victory over Washington.
The passion he referenced is visible every night at Progressive Field. It shows up in the way he runs out ground balls, the way he attacks pitches in his zone without hesitation, and the way he carries himself in big moments rather than retreating from them. The 412 foot second deck home run in Philadelphia. The clutch doubles in tight games. The stolen bases that keep opposing defenses on edge. All of it flows from a player who simply loves being out on that field more than almost anything else.
Baerga knows what it looks like when a player has that quality. He played alongside some of the greatest competitors in Cleveland baseball history during the franchise’s golden era of the 1990s.
