After the game was postponed on Friday, the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays were able to play Game 4 of the ALCS on Saturday. It wasn’t an ideal game for the Guardians, who ended up dropping the game 7-3.
After the loss, the Guardians and Rays are now tied at 2-2 as they head into a big Game 5 on Sunday. After the game, Guardians’ Travis Bazzana got honest with Mason Horodyski about what happened during Saturday’s loss.
“We’ve seen this kind of situation before, and we just got to bounce back,” Bazzana said.

The Guardians actually had the lead in this game from the beginning, when Chase DeLauter hit an RBI single in the first inning. The Rays scored five unanswered runs after that until Bazzana hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to cut the lead to three runs. The Rays bats were too strong in this game, and the Guardians ultimately weren’t able to climb out of the hole.
Bazzana did his job at the plate with two hits, but it wasn’t enough this time. Bazzana was actually the only player in the lineup to record more than one hit on Saturday. It was a bad game for Cleveland, but the series isn’t over yet.
The series is now tied; the Guardians will get one more home game on Sunday before heading back to Tampa Bay. This is a situation that the Guardians have been in many times before. They battled back down 2-0 in the series against the Chicago White Sox. The Guardians had to win three straight games to advance into the ALCS. This team has been battling for their lives all season long, so the loss shouldn’t impact them too much.
The Guardians have faced a lot of adversity throughout the season. They spent most of the season out of first place before finally passing the White Sox over the final weeks of the regular season. The Rays won 98 games and really didn’t struggle at all to get into the playoffs. This Guardians team has been battling all season long, so don’t expect them to act any differently now.
