Steven Kwan has been one of the most reliable players in the Cleveland Guardians lineup for the better part of four seasons. Right now, he is one of the biggest question marks on the roster.
Cade Cracas revealed a big concern about Kwan, not only about his current status, but also about his future as well.
“It’s time to sound the panic alarms on Steven Kwan. I don’t know what the deal is with Steven Kwan, I don’t know what the play is,” Cracas said.

Kwan is batting .213 on the season with one home run, 12 RBI, and a .586 OPS across 221 at bats in 62 games. His on-base percentage sits at .323 and his slugging at .262, both numbers that represent a significant drop from the player Cleveland has come to rely on Over his last seven days he is hitting .250 with no home runs, no RBI, and a .586 OPS.
Kwan entered this season with a career average of .275 and a .728 career OPS across 645 games. In 2024 he batted .292 with a .793 OPS. In 2025 he hit .272 with a .705 OPS across 156 games. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter from Los Gatos, California has been one of the most consistent contact hitters and on-base producers in the American League since his debut in 2022. The version currently suiting up for Cleveland is unrecognizable by comparison.
Cleveland is 37-33 and has now lost four straight, dropping out of first place in the AL Central to the Chicago White Sox by half a game. Solving the Kwan problem is not the only thing the Guardians need to do to right the ship, but it may be the most important.
Nobody has an answer right now. That is exactly the problem.
