The first half of the 2022 MLB season is over.
The Cleveland Guardians have performed a little better than expected.
They finished the first half just two games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central and 2.5 back of the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card race.
Though the series finale against the Detroit Tigers was postponed on Sunday, the Guardians won the first three, effectively sweeping them.
On Twitter, the Guardians and Tigers had a little war of sorts.
The Tigers had posted final scores of their sweep against Cleveland back on July 6.
Yesterday, the Guardians clapped back with a similar tweet, stating that it’s their 15th sweep of the Tigers since 2016.
Just completed our 15th sweep of Detroit since 2016. 🧹 https://t.co/nrg1GiaEud pic.twitter.com/Umz7maUB1d

A Twitter War
This is a hilarious little war these two clubs have going on.
But without having to play on Sunday, the Guardians swept the Tigers, and not just in the three games they played.
They roasted them pretty hard yesterday, and like the Tigers tweet from July 6, this tweet featured a photo of the losing team’s logo with a broom on top.
So yes, the Guardians managed to sweep the Tigers on social media too.
A broom over Detroit’s tweet about their most recent sweep of Cleveland illustrates that perfectly.
As of right now, it appears that the Guardians are going to get the last laugh.
They at least are close in the postseason race, whereas the Tigers are well out of contention, even after a busy offseason.
The two teams will have two more series against each other.
We’ll see what kind of memes and savage tweets come from each side, depending on the result of the series.
Certainly, the Tigers have something up their sleeve in case they win.
