The Cleveland Guardians took the field late on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds to play a Cactus League game.
They ended up winning 3-0 and the night was full of encouraging developments.
Tanner Bibee, the Guardians’ probable Opening Day starter, stymied the Reds offense and reached the six-inning threshold for the first time this spring.
He dominated the competition and stretched out a bit more with Opening Day in mind.
“Impressive outing tonight for Cleveland #Guardians RHP Tanner Bibee in his second spring training start vs the Reds. Line – 6.0(IP) 1H 0R 0ER 1BB 4SO (66 Pitches 43 Strikes.) His fastball topped out at 96.0 mph and averaged 94.6 mph,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

The results were unbelievable.
Bibee allowed just two baserunners over the six frames he was on the hill: one via a hit, and another one with a walk.
He struck out four batters and surrendered no runs.
Bibee was in complete control from start to finish and then gave way to the Guardians’ bullpen.
With scoreless outings from Joey Cantillo (two innings) and Paul Sewald (one frame,) the game ended with no real threat to score by the Reds.
Bibee, who still hasn’t allowed a single run in nine spring frames, is on schedule to make one more tune-up before his Opening Day start.
Managed Stephen Vogt hasn’t officially named Bibee for that March 27 assignment against the Kansas City Royals, but it’s one of the worst-kept secrets in the organization.
With a fantastic spring, a 3.47 ERA, and 187 strikeouts last year, there is no one more qualified for the gig among healthy pitchers on the team.
