The Cleveland Guardians received a dominant performance from Tanner Bibee when they needed it most, as the young right-hander threw a complete-game shutout in a crucial 4-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Progressive Field.
Bibee’s masterpiece on September 12, 2025, marked his first professional complete-game shutout and gave Cleveland exactly the type of statement win that can change a season’s trajectory.
“Tanner Bibee went 9 shutout innings tonight for the complete game win. It’s his first complete game shutout as a pro. 2 hits allowed and 10 k’s/0 bb’s speaks to how dominating he was tonight,” Al Pawlowski posted on X.

The 26-year-old struck out 10 batters while allowing just two hits and zero walks across nine innings.
His commanding performance pushed the Guardians to 76-71 and extended their hot streak to seven wins in eight games during a critical playoff push.
Bibee faced his only real challenge in the third inning after surrendering back-to-back singles to put runners on first and second.
He responded by inducing a double play to escape the jam unscathed.
From that point forward, the right-hander was virtually untouchable, retiring 18 of the final 20 batters he faced.
His precise command and effective changeup kept the White Sox lineup off balance throughout the night.
The performance culminated with Nolan Jones making a diving catch for the final out, sealing Cleveland’s first complete-game shutout since Zach Plesac accomplished the feat in 2019.
David Fry and Angel Martínez provided the offensive support with solo home runs in the balanced victory.
The Guardians remain 3.5 games behind Seattle and Houston for the final American League wild card spot, making every game crucial during this September stretch run.
