The Cleveland Guardians are close to pulling off the miracle. They are one win away from becoming the first team since 2015 to lose the first two games of the Division Series at home and come back to win the best-of-five matchup.
Cleveland has shockingly taken Games 3 and 4 in Chicago, scoring nine runs in each. Now, they face another tall task: beating the White Sox for a third straight game, this time at home, at Progressive Field, on Saturday.
Both offenses are becoming familiar with each other’s pitching staffs. Hurlers are starting to feel the wear and tear of a stressful postseason series. However, the Guardians are showing tremendous heart and desire to come back and win it all.
The players are excited for Saturday’s opportunity. They will get a chance to advance to their second AL Championship Series in the last three years, and they could do it in front of their fans.
“This is our chance to give them a good show and give them what they deserve,” outfielder Steven Kwan said, per sports anchor Nick Camino.

Kwan, the catalyst of the surging Guardians’ offense these days, went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored at the top of the lineup on Thursday’s 9-5 win in Chicago. He was one of the team’s best players in the second half, and his excellent run of form has carried over to October, where he has started to come around in the last two games after going 1-for-7 in the first two.
Kwan, more than anyone on the roster other than Jose Ramirez, knows what it’s like to play at the highest level. He has been with the Guardians since the 2022 season, and he has been part of some strong rosters that have competed in the playoffs.
The 2026 Guardians have a chance to do something special. Even if they win on Saturday, they won’t be the favorites against the mighty Tampa Bay Rays. However, that hasn’t stopped this team from competing and trying before.
The entire city will be rallying behind these Guardians on Saturday. Can Kwan and his teammates give fans a reason to celebrate?
