It has been a rough week for the Cleveland Guardians.
They rested on Monday, but after that, they have dropped three out of four games they have played: two against the Houston Astros and Friday’s opener vs. the Los Angeles Angels.
In their last two games, they have scored two runs and conceded 14.
That’s not ideal for a contender, but these stretches are more common than you think over a 162-game season.
Manager Stephen Vogt, however, doesn’t want to make any excuses for his players or his squad.
He is known for the energy his team displays on the field, and that hasn’t been there this week.
He had a message to send his roster.
“It’s been quite the energy draining week for #Guardians but manager Stephen Vogt believes his guys have to ‘post’ every night no matter what because ‘nobody cares’ about how tired they may be,” Guardians reporter Daryl Ruiter tweeted.

Perhaps the message comes across a bit harsh, but he is confident that veterans and young players alike will understand what he is trying to do.
He is trying to re-energize his roster, after a tough stretch of games to open the week.
It’s part of the job of a skipper: the good times weren’t going to last all year, and this could be a learning experience for a young team like the Guardians and a young, inexperienced manager like Vogt.
Cleveland is still in enviable position, boasting a 20-12 record and leading the AL Central by half a game over the Kansas City Royals.
The Guards can still get to an even week if they win on Saturday and Sunday, and it could be just what they need to face next week’s challenges.
