The Cleveland Guardians have one of the best managers in the game. That might sound like a stretch, given his lack of experience, but the numbers back that up.
In fact, Stephen Vogt has already inked his name in franchise history. As pointed out by MLB on X, he’s the first Guardians manager to reach the postseason in his first two seasons in charge of the team.

That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him winning AL Manager of the Year again. This is the second time he’s won that distinction in as many years in charge of the league. Of course, that streak isn’t going to go on forever, but it is certainly an encouraging start to his career.
The Guardians didn’t have the most talented roster in the league by any means last season. They clearly lacked firepower in their lineup, and not many people thought they would make the playoffs, let alone win the division.
That was especially evident after losing Emmanuel Clase and Luis L. Ortiz in a sports gambling incident, and even more so after winning just nine games in June. Vogt, however, kept trusting his team and made sure to keep everybody focused and motivated.
Some people were skeptical about hiring Vogt at first, given his lack of experience. The Guardians gave him a short-term ‘prove it’ type of deal. But now that he’s entering the final year of his contract, there’s no doubt that they need to keep him around for the long run.
