The Cleveland Guardians may have found something special in rookie left-hander Parker Messick.
After another dominant outing to begin the 2026 season, Messick is already putting his name alongside some of the best young pitchers in baseball. His early performance has not only helped Cleveland in the win column, but it is also starting to turn heads across the league.
According to a stat shared by Sarah Langs, Messick has now recorded two scoreless starts of six or more innings without issuing a walk in his young career. That is the most by any Guardians pitcher since the start of 2025, a remarkable accomplishment for someone just getting his footing at the major league level.
“Parker Messick has two scoreless starts of 6+ innings with no walks in his career, most among Guardians pitchers since the start of 2025 Only other MLB pitchers with 2 such starts since his 8/20/25 debut: Paul Skenes and Garrett Crochet,” Langs wrote.

Even more impressive is the company he is in.
The only other MLB pitchers to record multiple outings like that since Messick’s debut in August 2025 are Paul Skenes and Garrett Crochet. Both are widely regarded as elite arms with dominant stuff, making Messick’s inclusion in that group even more noteworthy.
Manager Stephen Vogt has already praised Messick’s poise and presence on the mound, noting how comfortable he looks despite his limited experience.
For Cleveland, this development could be huge.
The Guardians have long built their identity around strong pitching, and adding another reliable arm to the rotation only strengthens that foundation. With questions surrounding parts of the rotation entering the season, Messick’s emergence provides both stability and upside.
Of course, it is still early. Opposing teams will adjust, and Messick will face tougher tests as the season progresses. The key will be maintaining this level of command and continuing to execute against more advanced scouting reports.
But for now, the signs are extremely encouraging.
If Messick continues on this trajectory, he will not just be a pleasant surprise. He could become a major piece of the Guardians’ rotation and a big reason why this team remains competitive throughout the 2026 season.
