One More Prospect Just Joined The Guardians’ Pipeline

The Cleveland Guardians are enjoying the fruits of their labor this season after years of drafting and developing some incredible young talent. That young talent is now featured up and down the roster as the Guardians look to chase down the Chicago White Sox this summer and win the AL Central for the third year in a row.

With guys like Travis Bazzana, Parker Messick, Chase DeLauter, Cade Smith, Angel Martinez, and so many other burgeoning talents establishing themselves as foundational pieces for years to come, the Guardians need to replenish that talent. It all starts with the recent 2026 draft class, and fans will be happy to hear that one of Cleveland’s newest draftees recently signed their rookie contract.

Guardians Prospective shared that the team has officially signed its fifth-round pick from the 2026 draft, 21-year-old outfielder Lucas Moore out of Louisville.

Over 123 games at Louisville over the past two years, Moore hit just nine home runs, but stole 90 bases while being caught just eight times. He also had more walks than strikeouts and brings with him a .430+ on-base percentage over his college career, which all sounds like someone who can follow in Steven Kwan’s footsteps.

Moore just turned 21, so Guardians fans shouldn’t expect to see him for a little while. With so many other outfielders on the major league roster and in the system, there is no need to rush anybody, but it’s encouraging to have this kind of speed within the organization.

Speculation can be saved for another day and there’s no word yet on where Moore will begin his career. He’ll probably head to some level of A-ball and get a chance to play every day, and we’ll see over the next year or two if he can develop more power to go along with that impressive speed.
