Travis Bazzana has made quite an impression for the Cleveland Guardians since making his MLB debut on April 28. In fact, the rookie second baseman may be exceeding the expectations that accompanied him as the No. 1 overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft.
Bazzana recently had the best performance of his brief career on Saturday against the Houston Astros. It was so good that it has resulted in some immediate recognition that usually takes a lot longer to be put forth.
A limited Travis Bazzana Gamebreaker Bobblehead is available for preorder by going to FOCO.com to commemorate his five-RBI night, which included two home runs among the 4-for-4 showing.
You can preorder the bobblehead here.
Bazzana led off the game with a home run. He followed that with a single in the third inning, a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and an RBI single in the seventh inning of the 8-1 win.
It extended his hitting streak to four games, which he extended to five on Sunday. During it, he is 9-for-18 (.500) with three home runs and seven RBIs.
The impressive stretch has come at an ideal time for the Guardians, who have been without Jose Ramirez, Chase DeLauter and Angel Martinez since they were each injured in the same game on June 13. The three have been among Cleveland’s best hitters this season.
The Guardians’ lineup had already experienced some major changes this season, highlighted by Bazzana moving into the leadoff spot in place of Steven Kwan. In 85 at-bats batting first, Bazzana has a slash line of .282/.347/.600 with 10 doubles, five home runs, 15 RBIs, and two stolen bases.
Yet, it hasn’t resulted in as many wins as the Guardians would have liked. They are 7-10 this month, but they still lead the AL Central heading into their first meeting of the season with the second-place Chicago White Sox in a three-game series that begins Monday at Rate Field.
Bazzana will try to extend his hitting streak while the Guardians look to build on their narrow lead over the White Sox as they approach the halfway point of the season.
