The Cleveland Guardians won their third consecutive game on Monday, against a tough divisional rival, no less: the Detroit Tigers.
It was a closely contested affair that saw the Guardians prevail with a 2-1 score.
The game represented the MLB debut of first baseman Kyle Manzardo, one of the organization’s top prospects.
The young left-hander was Cleveland’s designated hitter on Monday, due to Josh Naylor’s presence at first base.
Offensively, he had a rough day, going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts.
It’s all part of a learning and adjustment period for the promising middle-of-the-order thumper.
As long as he is persistent and has a strong support group, things will go well for him because of his talent.
Speaking of his support group, he shared an unforgettable moment on the field after the game.
“What a moment! Following his MLB debut with the @CleGuardians, Kyle Manzardo was greeted by his family and friends on the field, and there plenty of hugs and pats on the back were handed out,” Bally Sports Cleveland tweeted.

Manzardo’s family not only knows what the player has had to sacrifice to get to where he is, but they also had to make sacrifices themselves.
It’s a beautiful moment for everyone involved.
Skills-wise, Manzardo is a nice addition to the Guardians lineup.
He has contact, on-base ability and power, and a long track record of success wherever he has played.
In 29 Triple-A games this season, Manzardo slashed a solid .303/.375/.642 with nine home runs, showing the full extent of his power and offensive talent.
He is a keeper and a big piece of the Guardians’ future.
Fortunately, the future is now.
