For most of the first two months of the 2026 season, the Cleveland Guardians have been waiting for Jose Ramirez to fully wake up. Based on what he has done over the last four games, that moment appears to have arrived.
Guardians Prospective captured the moment and the numbers behind it perfectly after Monday’s 8-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.
“He’s back. Cleveland Guardians 3B Jose Ramirez reached base 4x tonight (3-4 R 2B HR 3RBI BB) including his 8th HR of the season in the team’s win over the Tigres. Last four games: 9-15 4R 2(2B) 2HR 6RBI 4BB 2SB. AVG .600 OBP .650,” Guardians Prospective wrote.

Monday night’s performance was a perfect example of what that looks like in real time. He went 3-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI, a walk and a run scored, reaching base all four times he came to the plate. His eighth home run of the season came in the ninth inning and was his second in two games after going 113 plate appearances without one earlier this year. The power is back, the patience is back, and the results are reflecting both.
Ramirez is hitting .240 across 179 at-bats in 2026 with eight home runs, 22 RBI, 20 stolen bases, a .369 on-base percentage and a .799 OPS. The batting average is still well below his career standard of .278, but the trend line over the last seven games tells the more relevant story. He is hitting .346 over that stretch with a .455 on-base percentage and has driven in six runs while adding four walks and four stolen bases, numbers that reflect a player operating at an elite level.
Ramirez already has 20 steals through 49 games, which as noted earlier this week, made him just the fifth player in franchise history to reach that mark through 47 games of a season. For a 33-year-old to be running at that pace while also showing signs of getting the power stroke back online is a remarkable combination.
The Guardians enter Tuesday night’s game at Comerica Park with Parker Messick on the mound against Detroit’s Keider Montero. Cleveland has won eight of their last 11 games and sits comfortably in first place in the AL Central. With Ramirez now looking like the best version of himself, the rest of the American League has good reason to be paying attention to what is happening in Cleveland right now.
When Jose Ramirez is locked in, this team is a different animal entirely.
