On Sunday, the Detroit Tigers avoided a sweep behind their ace, Tarik Skubal, and beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-0.
The Guards had won the first three games, though, so the work was pretty much done.
Skubal was masterful, pitching a complete game shutout with 13 strikeouts and just 94 pitches.
It was a true masterpiece.
Even with the reigning AL Cy Young limiting the Guardians to just two hits, Cleveland superstar Jose Ramirez managed to keep his impressive hitting streak alive.

That 2016 campaign was Ramirez’s breakout party.
After three years of modest MLB performances, he broke out in 2016 with a .312 batting average, a 119 wRC+, and 5.1 fWAR.
From that point on, Ramirez has become one of the best and most consistent hitters in MLB.
For him to tie his best hitting streak this year at 32 years old is nothing short of amazing.
He will now go for a new personal best this week, trying to leave behind that magical streak of nine years ago.
After a somewhat slow start, Ramirez has picked up the pace and his numbers are reflecting it.
He is slashing a very solid .309/.365/.516 with nine home runs, 30 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.
His wRC+ stands at a cool 146, which would top last year’s 141 mark.
Simply put, Ramirez hadn’t gone anywhere.
He was just getting started, finding his rhythm at the plate.
He is now hitting his stride and looks better than ever, like the 23-year-old phenom he was in 2016.
