The Cleveland Guardians returned to victory on Tuesday night, beating the Miami Marlins 4-3 and, thanks to the Detroit Tigers’ loss, cutting their AL Central deficit to just 5.5 games.
As you can probably imagine, Jose Ramirez’s fingerprints were all over the win.
In the first inning, he hit a solo home run to give his team the lead, just before Kyle Manzardo’s solo shot of his own.
Then, with the game tied in the bottom of the eighth frame, Ramirez went deep against Calvin Faucher to put the Guardians ahead for good.
Both of his homers were incredibly clutch, especially the last one.
It was Ramirez’s 27th multi-homer game, breaking a tie with Hall of Famer Jim Thome and five-time All-Star Albert Belle at the top of the franchise leaderboards.
“No one in Cleveland baseball history has more multi-homer games than José Ramírez. Not Albert Belle, not Jim Thome, not Manny Ramirez, not Rocky Colavito, not Jack Hannahan. Wild stuff,” team insider Zack Meisel posted on X.

That is, indeed, wild stuff.
By looking at Ramirez, you wouldn’t know he is a power hitter.
He doesn’t have the build of, say, Belle, Thome, or Ramirez.
But he doesn’t need to.
Incredibly precise barrel control, natural loft on his swing, and quick wrists have allowed Ramirez to hit 280 home runs at 32 years old.
He has 25 on the season and looks well on his way to achieving another 30-30 campaign, the third of his career.
For the year, he is hitting a solid .294/.368/.528 with a 141 wRC+, 25 round-trippers, 33 stolen bases, 76 runs, 63 RBI, and 5.2 fWAR.
He is as good as they come.
