The Cleveland Guardians are going to the playoffs thanks to their dominant bullpen, the breakout of some offensive players, their savvy manager, and Jose Ramirez.
J-Ram showed the world that even if he is starting to age, he remains the league’s best third baseman.
He was a home run shy of joining the 40-40 and had an incredible performance in the final week of the regular season, which earned him one final award before heading into the postseason.
“José Ramírez and Shohei Ohtani are the final AL & NL Players of the Week for the 2024 season!” MLB Network posted on X.

With his excellent play, Ramirez helped the Guardians seal their playoff ticket, the AL Central Division, and a first-round bye in the postseason.
Not bad at all for one of the game’s most underrated stars.
It was Ramirez’s seventh Player of the Week award in his brilliant career and the first since May of 2022.
It’s the second time a player from the Guardians wins the weekly award this year: Josh Naylor did in late June.
Per MLB’s press release, Ramirez hit .500 (7-for-14) last week with a couple of homers, six RBI, three doubles, a triple, a walk, five runs scored, a stolen base, a 1.286 slugging percentage, in just four games.
He led the junior circuit with six extra-base hits, was second in RBI and total bases.
He was also a single short of hitting for the cycle last Wednesday.
He didn’t need many games to make a huge impact as the Guardians closed their participation in the regular season.
