We’ve got ourselves a hot race for the starting job at third base for the American League All-Stars.
It’s an extremely close battle between Cleveland Guardians star Jose Ramirez and Rafael Devers of the Boston Red Sox.
Both players have been raking all season long and have each provided a strong case for why they should earn the nod to start in the All-Star Game.
Ramirez is hitting .289 with 16 home runs and 63 RBI, while Devers is hitting .327 with 17 home runs and 46 RBI.
The race is hot and we’re just a day away from the All-Star starters being officially revealed.
MLB tweeted a comparison of each player’s stats and showed why each star has a fighting chance to earn the starting job at third base.

Neck And Neck
These two stars are neck and neck in a lot of categories.
And where one has the edge over the other, the other makes up for in other categories.
Devers’ average is far superior to that of Ramirez, but Ramirez has driven in more runs.
The two of them are extremely close in WAR.
Devers has a WAR of 4.1, whereas Ramirez has a WAR of 3.9.
These two stars have almost an equal shot at being named the starter at third base.
If we do a deep dive and compare the two players’ stats closely, Devers appears to have a slight advantage, but that doesn’t mean that Ramirez doesn’t have a good chance.
He’s a player you can’t sleep on and is somebody who has made his presence known in the All-Star voting process.
He’s not far behind Devers.
It’s always possible for him to end up getting the nod.
