Now that Jose Ramirez is locked into another long-term contract that could potentially see him begin and end his career with the Cleveland Guardians, he has a lot more time to shatter any remaining franchise records that he hasn’t already set. He isn’t off to the best start in 2026, but he has already hit some impressive milestones this year, most notably when he became the all-time leader in games played in early April at 1,620.
Just after becoming the franchise leader in games played, Ramirez became Cleveland’s all-time leader in at-bats. He has done a ton of damage during all those at-bats, and on Saturday, he moved up another notch in one of the most prominent stat categories.
Mason Horodyski of WEWS noted that Ramirez’s single on Saturday moved him into sixth place on the Guardians’ all-time list at 1,707 hits. He passed Lou Boudreau for sixth and now has his sights set on Charlie Jamieson in the No. 5 spot with 1,753 hits.
“With that single, José Ramírez is now in 6th place in #Guardians franchise history for hits at 1707,” Horodyski wrote.

Joe Sewell is in fourth with 1,800 hits, which is where Ramirez will likely be as long as he stays healthy through the rest of this season. The all-time Guardians leader is Nap Lajoie at 2,047, which is a number that Ramirez could surpass in early 2028.
It’s only a matter of time before he tops that list and far surpasses Lajoie to reset the bar for future Guardians greats. Just about every other major statistical category is well within reach over the next handful of years as well, including runs scored, doubles, total bases, walks, homers, RBIs, steals, and WAR.
Ramirez deserves every accolade that comes his way for what he has meant to this organization. When it is all said and done, he will rightfully sit atop the record books in just about every statistical category in Guardians history, and hopefully his recent move up to the No. 2 spot in the lineup will help get him going so he can get to these records just a bit faster.
Hopefully at that point, he’ll also have a World Series ring to flaunt on his way to the Hall of Fame.
