The Cleveland Guardians have surprised everybody in the baseball world thus far in 2022.
Buoyed by strong starts from rookie Steven Kwan and their centerpiece, infielder Jose Ramirez, the Guardians now find themselves just one game back of the first-place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.
They also control the second AL Wild Card spot.
But Ramirez has been the story of the season thus far.
The 29-year-old slugger is hitting .305 with 16 homers and 62 RBI.
In fact, according to a Guardians writer on Twitter, Ramirez has made a little history.
He is now 11th all-time in Cleveland history for extra-base hits, and he’ll soon pass some pretty big names.
Jose Ramirez is already 11th in Cleveland baseball history in extra base hits… In the coming months, we should expect him to pass Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez, Lou Boudreau, and Carlos Santana to move into 7th place! pic.twitter.com/vcWiIaa83l

Ramirez Moving Up On The List
When we talk about who the best players in baseball are, it’s easy to put a guy like Ramirez in that conversation.
Ever since the departure of Francisco Lindor, Ramirez has taken the reins and become the leader of this Guardians ballclub that looks poised to surprise some more people.
Nobody would have expected the Guardians to be in this position now, but here they are, right in the thick of the playoff race, thanks in large part to the contributions of Ramirez.
He’s already in the conversation with Lou Boudreau, Manny Ramirez, and Albert Belle.
These are big names and soon he will most likely pass them and continue to move up the all-time extra-base hits list in Guardians’ history.
He is the threat in the lineup.
He’s the guy that you do not want to pitch to, especially when the game is on the line.
And if he continues hitting, he’ll pass some of those greats, if not all of them, in no time.
