It was sort of an odd swing, let’s say, but Jose Ramirez picked up a clutch hit for the Cleveland Guardians in the top of the fifth inning last night against the Boston Red Sox.
Ramirez got slightly jammed on a pitch from Nick Pivetta, but managed to sneak it just past Bobby Dalbec at third base, which allowed Myles Straw to score the tying run, giving Ramirez his 79th RBI on the season.
In addition to his 79 RBI, Ramirez has hit .289 with 19 home runs and a .933 OPS.
He’s on pace to shatter his career high in RBI, which came in 2018 when he knocked in 105.
Bally Sports Cleveland tweeted a video of Ramirez’s clutch hit.

J-Ram Makes It Count
It may have been all the Guardians were able to muster last night, but sure Ramirez made it count.
Pivetta was sharp against them, and Zach Plesac kept them in the game, going five innings and allowing three runs, but taking the hard-luck loss.
Ramirez showed up to play and continued his hot streak, remaining on pace to pass his career high in RBI.
He has been a hits and RBI machine this season, leading the way for the Guardians as they try to make an unexpected push towards the postseason in the second half of the season.
Ramirez has shown time and time again why he is one of the best hitters in all of baseball.
He’s been carrying much of the load this season for the Guardians.
And while his hit scored Cleveland’s only run of the game, it at least counted for something as the Guardians took a tough loss at Fenway Park.
