The Cleveland Guardians lost both games of Wednesday’s doubleheader and their current skid has now reached five games.
The recent run of form is incredibly frustrating, especially considering the team won the five games they played before their current losing streak.
Despite the two losses, Wednesday wasn’t that bad for third baseman and team star Jose Ramirez.
The six-time All-Star reached two cool marks in 2024: 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases.
He got his 25th steal in the first game of the doubleheader, and his 30th homer in the second.
According to Opta Stats, there has been only one hitter in MLB history to reach 30 homers and 25 thefts in fewer than 111 games played.
That hitter is, well, himself, six years ago.
“@CleGuardians‘ Jose Ramirez reached 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases for the season in his 111th game played in 2024. The only switch hitter to do that in fewer than 111 games in a season in MLB history is Ramirez himself in 2018 (105 games),” they tweeted.

That year, Ramirez logged his first and only 30-30 season, with 39 long balls and 34 stolen bases.
He is truly a power-speed dynamo, one of the best players in the game, and a future Guardians Hall of Famer.
For Cleveland, he is a living legend.
He has a good chance of replicating those power-speed numbers he had in 2018, particularly the home runs.
With a .882 OPS and solid defense in the hot corner, Ramirez is once again proving his worth.
If it wasn’t for Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr.’s monster seasons, we would probably be talking about J-Ram as a legitimate AL MVP candidate.
