The Cleveland Guardians’ season continues to spiral at an alarming pace.
They lost their seventh straight game and their offense failed to score again in another embarrassment, this time 1-0 at the hands of the Chicago Cubs.
It’s the second consecutive sweep for Cleveland.
It’s hard to win many games when your best player, in this case, Jose Ramirez, is slumping so badly at the plate.
The saddest part of it all is that everything points to Ramirez still feeling the ill effects of last week’s hit-by-pitch controversy with the Toronto Blue Jays.
“José Ramírez is 0-for-18 since the Kevin Gausman hit by pitch last week, after lining out to third base in his 2nd at-bat tonight,” MLB insider Jon Morosi wrote on X.

After that post was sent, the All-Star third baseman failed to get a hit in two additional at-bats, so he is in an 0-for-20 slide since being hit in the forearm by Gausman.
Gausman and the Blue Jays got no discipline from MLB for what looked to be an intentional hit by pitch.
The Guardians are also 0-7 since that moment.
It’s unclear if Ramirez is feeling pain or soreness, but the evidence seems to suggest he might be.
Cleveland’s awful offense needs “J-Ram” to compete every day, and right now, they are not getting his best version.
The Guardians have scored 12 runs in those seven games, which is not even two per contest.
Nobody can win with such an unproductive offense.
