The Cleveland Guardians have arguably the best third baseman in baseball.
As such, Jose Ramirez annually ranks among the top vote-getters for AL MVP, and he likely will do so again in 2025.
“Jose Ramírez is on his way to an eighth top-10 finish in AL MVP voting in the last nine years after his second straight 30-homer, 40-steal campaign, and he continues to produce at a superstar level with limited support around him. The 33-year-old is one of the most consistent players in the majors, and aside from his elite power-speed combination, he has also developed into a standout defender at the hot corner and is a Gold Glove finalist,” Daryl Reuter wrote.
Ramirez isn’t the type of player who does a lot of talking, and that’s perhaps why his name isn’t brought up as often when discussing the best players in the game.
Notably, that’s also why the Guardians’ front office should be quite worried about a recent interview.
Ramirez admitted that he agreed to give Cleveland a hometown discount in his contract extension so they could spend to add talent around him.
But after watching them pass on several players, he’s said he’s not going to take the same approach on his next deal.
Ramirez was one of the best players in the game again this season, and he was a big reason the Guardians were able to rally, defy the odds, and make the playoffs.
As one of the greatest players in franchise history, he deserves to play meaningful postseason games.
Hopefully, he’ll continue to do so for Cleveland.
