José Ramírez played a central role in the Cleveland Guardians’ comeback to capture the AL Central title this season. The third baseman’s performance throughout the year reinforced his standing as one of baseball’s elite players.
His contributions were recognized on Thursday when he finished third in American League MVP voting before earning another significant honor later that evening.
Ramírez was named to the 2025 All-MLB First Team, marking his fourth career selection and second consecutive appearance on the First Team. He ranked ahead of Alex Bregman, Junior Caminero, Manny Machado, and Eugenio Suárez at the third base position following another exceptional campaign.

In his 13th season, Ramírez appeared in 158 games and posted a .283/.360/.503 slash line with 34 doubles, 30 home runs, and 85 RBIs. He also recorded a career-high 44 stolen bases while maintaining consistent production across all offensive categories.
His .863 OPS led all qualified third basemen during the 2025 season. Ramírez’s 6.3 wins above replacement according to FanGraphs tied him with Francisco Lindor for eighth among MLB position players.
He also set personal records with a 39-game on-base streak from April 30 through June 14, which included a 21-game hitting streak between May 6 and May 28.
The seven-time All-Star completed one of the most balanced seasons of his career by combining power, speed, and steady performance. His energy and leadership have remained constant throughout his tenure with the organization.
Since the All-MLB teams began in 2019, only Shane Bieber and Emmanuel Clase have earned First Team selections from Cleveland. Bieber received the honor as a starting pitcher in 2020, while Clase was recognized as a reliever in 2022 and 2024.
Brad Hand made the Second Team in 2020, as did Andrés Giménez in 2022. Ramírez continues to serve as the franchise’s cornerstone homegrown talent.
