There are four teams in MLB with 30 or more wins as of Monday afternoon.
The Cleveland Guardians are one of them.
If you told a Guardians fan that the squad would have the fourth-most wins in baseball on May 20, chances are they wouldn’t have believed you.
It’s not that the team was hopeless to begin the season, but it’s fair to say that, after losing Shane Bieber for the year and without being able to enjoy Gavin Williams, Trevor Stephan, and other injured players, fans are currently living a best-case scenario when it comes to the standings.
After sweeping the Minnesota Twins with a Will Brennan walk-off home run on Sunday, Cleveland reached the 30-win threshold and confirmed its dominance against its division foe.
“The Guardians are the fourth MLB team to reach 30 wins. They’re 5-0 against the Twins,” Guards insider Zack Meisel tweeted.

With a 30-17 record, Cleveland is 1.5 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central, and already 5.5 games better than the Twins.
There is still a long way to go, but it’s clear Cleveland is in the right direction organizationally.
Their offense is still inconsistent, but at least it’s better than last year’s and there are a few minor leaguers worthy of consideration for a call-up.
The pitching, on the other hand, has been masterful; both the starters and, particularly, the bullpen.
They are a well-coached team with a new, fresh figure as the leader in Stephen Vogt, and the players seem to be having fun.
Clubhouse morale is high, and the Guards might be the hottest team in the American League.
Vibes, as the young fans would say, are at an all-time high.
